Weather:
wind light west becoming moderate SW the last two hours of the count,
sunny, high of 93 degrees F
Raptor Observations:
Another slow day, but a little bit better than yesterday. The highlight was
at least two adult and one juvenile Mississippi Kite. Initially three
Mississippi Kites were seen flying south out of sight, but they were too
distant to age, then later two adults were seen coming back north, and then
finally a juvenile was seen directly over the platform
Non-raptor Observations:
27 Chimney Swits, 1 Red-headed Woodpecker, 108 Purple Martins, 1 Tree
Swallow, 2 Bank Swallows, 20 Barn Swallows
Predictions:
Tomorrow will hopefully be quite a bit better with moderate NW winds, sunny
skies, and a high of 89, while Saturday could be a very fine early season
flight with strong N winds- Ospreys in particular could be moving in good
numbers.
