Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end   time: 15:30:00
Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter:        Anna Stunkel

Observers:        Rudy Cashwell, Steve Thornhill

Weather:
Winds were light and variable, with a southerly component during most of
the day. Skies were partly cloudy, with hot and humid conditions again.
Temperatures were in the mid seventies to high eighties.

Raptor Observations:
There was a nice Osprey flight today, with most of these birds flying
during two peaks in the late morning and mid afternoon. A few kestrels and
one Merlin passed.

Non-raptor Observations:
Two exciting highlights occurred today:  a Wood Stork and a Lark Sparrow
were seen. The Wood Stork was seen several times throughout the day, and it
seemed to be flying in large circles back and forth before ultimately
traveling southwards. The stork was observed thermalling among vultures.
The Lark Sparrow was hanging out among Chipping Sparrows near the hawkwatch
parking lot this afternoon. Three Red-headed Woodpeckers passed today, and
a Prairie Warbler was hopping around in the butterfly garden.
