Total observation time: 8.25 hours
Official Counter: Eli Gross
Observers: Brian Taber, Ned Brinkley, Zak Poulton
Weather:
After a week of warm weather a cold front pushed through. Temps in the low
to mid 50's with wind due N in the morning before shifting to NE in the
late morning.
Raptor Observations:
Still slow, but at least there were a few birds. Surprisingly good
diversity for the low number of individual raptors. Highlight of the day
was a Northern Goshawk that passed to the west of the platform at 1345
before following the bayshore south.
Non-raptor Observations:
Good morning flight and diversity overall. Northern Gannet (325), Common
Loon (13), Red-throated Loon (2), Black Scoter (7), Surf Scoter (5), Tundra
Swan (5), Red-breasted Nuthatch (1), Cedar Waxwing (143), American Robin
(8089), Red-winged Blackbird (4984), Rusty Blackbird (4), Dickcissel (1),
Purple Finch (13). And the best bird of the day was an Ash-throated
Flycatcher present in front of the platform from 920-930.
