Weather:
Light winds in the morning became moderate and gusty in the afternoon. Wind
direction was mostly from the south southeast. Temperatures were in the
seventies to mid eighties.
Raptor Observations:
The highlight of the day was a Mississippi Kite at 8:32 am EST. The bird
passed by low and not too distant on the east side of the platform. The day
was otherwise slow, but we had a nice show of very low peregrines flying
over the platform in beautiful late afternoon light.
Non-raptor Observations:
A beautiful adult Eastern Ratsnake was seen slithering towards and
eventually under the platform today. Several Red-breasted Nuthatches were
fluttering around near the feeder. Other observations included:
18 Blue Jays
1 Baltimore Oriole
1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird, at the feeders
