Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Joe Beatty, Katie Garst, Rudy Cashwell, Steve Thornhill
Visitors:
Thank you to the Eastern Shore Bird Club and Rarity Roundup participants
for stopping by!
Weather:
Moderate to light winds were mainly from the northeast, with partly to
mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures were in the low thirties to low forties.
Raptor Observations:
We had a nice red-tail, red-shoulder, and Bald Eagle flight today. Again,
some northward drifting was going on, but a good number of birds were
heading south. Three Golden Eagles passed this morning (two juveniles and
one either juvenile or subadult). Two of these birds were flying together
and passed right over the platform, relatively high.
Non-raptor Observations:
Hundreds of Turkey Vultures were moving, mostly in the morning. The robin,
blackbird, and Tree Swallow flight was a bit quieter compared to yesterday.
Other observations included:
55 Tundra Swans
6 Wood Ducks
3 Horned Larks
1 Rusty Blackbird
1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo (a late-in-the-season find)
