IMPORTANT NOTE: A spotting scope and tripod were left on the platform
today. We are holding them in a locked shed. Please come back to re-claim
them. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail
appywalker@xxxxxxxxx.

We enjoyed participating in the Kiptopeke Challenge today, and it was great
to see teams visiting the platform!

Weather:
Light winds were variable, starting out mostly from the southwest and
becoming more easterly/northeasterly. Skies started off partly cloudy,
became mostly clear, and then were overcast in the evening. Temperatures
were in the seventies to mid eighties.

Raptor Observations:
Despite a slow start, there was a great flight in the afternoon and into
the evening. Quite a few Ospreys were moving, along with a few kettles of
broad-wings. There was also a decent falcon flight. Birds were generally
high-flying this afternoon.

Non-raptor Observations:
There was an incredible flight of 105 Great Blue Herons today, including
two flocks of 22 and 37 birds each! Herons were on the move during the last
few hours of the count. Other sightings included:

7 Purple Martins
2 Common Nighthawks
2 Yellow-billed Cuckoos
1 Common Yellowthroat
1 Red-breasted Nuthatch

7 Monarchs
