Observation start time: 06:30:00
Observation end time: 17:45:00
Total observation time: 11.25 hours
Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Hal Wierenga, Harry Armistead, Joe Beatty, Lynn Davidson
Weather:
Winds were light to moderate and variable, often from the north northwest
and north northeast. Apart from a few tiny clouds, skies were clear today,
with temperatures in the seventies to mid eighties.
Raptor Observations:
Birds were generally distant and flying on the east side today. Some
raptors were "dipsy doodling" (terminology officially coined by Harry
Armistead) and took their time hunting near the platform. One broad-wing
kettle contained 64 birds. We had some beautiful views of peregrines,
especially in the evening.
Non-raptor Observations:
1 Eastern Meadowlark (FOS)
79 Monarchs
