Hola Birders
The Hawk count at Kiptopeke State Park kicked off another season today...and
there were birds! Over the course of the day between the extra-large gaps
between clouds Ospreys were moving, high up and on a line. Great fun.
Bobolinks were counted more often than any other bird today, 621 was a
conservative total for this gregarious species. Other big flights were made
up of Eastern Kingbirds (292), Barn Swallow (162) and Rock Pigeon (180) yes!
We will be counting every day for the next 90 days from dusk until dawn.
Visitors and volunteers are cordially invited to join each and every day.
