Howdy all,
Today was an ok day at the banding station. The wind was a bit lighter than
expected so we were able to run more nets than I thought we would be able to.
We ended the day with 196 birds which is a nice number. We really didn't
catch much unexpected or new for the season. Just the norm.
We did have a BLACKPOLL WARBLER that was fat and ready to fly. I would
almost bet, this bird takes off tonight.
Forecast for tomorrow is not all that good. Right wind direction to bring in
new birds, but wrong wind speeds! Sounds like tomorrow is going to be way
too windy. We might only be able to run 5-9 nets at best (we have 22 nets up).
I am hoping the winds are not as bad as they predict. Once again, always a
wait and see.
Here are the totals for the day 10/21:
Golden-crowned Kinglet 3
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Brown Creeper 2
Field Sparrow 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 3

TOTAL-------------------------------- 196
