Howdy all,
Today was a nice day at the station again. I like the cooler weather and the
few birds that came with it. AMERICAN REDSTARTS dominated the captures and in
the forest today. But the banding of a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was the best bird
of the day. This banding station doesn't not catch those that often with only
five banded since 1994. We also caught a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER today.
Here's the breakdown for the day:
A. Redstart 19
Chestnut-sided Warbler 1
Prothonotary Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Ovenbird 1
N. Waterthrush 3
Carolina Wren 3
N. Cardinal 3
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1
TOTAL----------------------- 33
As usual, most of the birds banded today came by 9-10 AM. After that the
numbers dropped off to almost nothing. Butterflies have been fairly nice
however
so the late morning has not been too boring.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
