Howdy all,
First off, just as a warning to all, I will not be at the banding station
tomorrow (Saturday). Bart Paxton from the Center for Conservation Biology will
be
filling in for me.
Today we saw less bird activity than the previous few days but still managed
to band 22. Athough none of them were very unusual, we did catch our first
PRAIRIE WARBLER of the season. We also caught our second LEAST FLYCATCHER of
the
season, which is a species we don't catch too many of in a season.
Here is the breakdown for the day:
American Redstart 6
Prairie Warbler 1
Black-and-white Warbler 4
Ovenbird 2
Northern Waterthrush 1
Least Flycatcher 1
Field Sparrow 1
Carolina Wren 3
Northern Cardinal 3
Ruby-throated Hummingbird unbanded
TOTAL------------------------------ 22
I will be back at the station Sunday. I hope to see everybody then! Remember,
the earlier the better, after about 9AM the bird number drops off pretty
good.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
