Howdy all,
Well things have not inproved much at the Kiptopeke banding station. The lack
of weather fronts and the higher temps have not helped. The one cool front that
passed through the area was timed badly so we could not take advantage of it.
During this four day stretch, the high day was only 18, the rest were in single
digits.
Here is the list:
American Redstart 13
Black and white Warbler 3
Canada Warbler 3
Northern Waterthrush 1
Ovenbird 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Northern Mockingbird 1
Northern Cardinal 3
Tufted Titmouse 1
Carolina Wren 2
Brown Thrasher 1
Total 34
As a side note, there was a beautiful Black-throated Green Warbler on the
Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR three days ago and last night there was at least
44 imm. White Ibis at the boat ramp pond on the refuge as well.
Bring on the cold fronts and the birds!!!
Cheers,
