Howdy all,
The past two days have been very nice at the banding station. The weather today
was almost prefect. Monday we had another good day as far as totals go. Today
was a little slower but still nice.
Monday we had a few surprises at the banding station. We had four new species
for the season and two of them seem very early. The first net run produced both
a Winter Wren and a Gray-cheeked Thrush. Also reported in the area was a
kinglet and there has been a big push of Red-breasted Nuthatches the last few
days. Is winter really around the corner? Before you answer let me just say we
also caught a Blue-winged Warbler too. hummmm.......
Today, the numbers were lower but we still caught two new species for the year
with the highlight for the day being another Black-billed Cuckoo (third for the
season)!

The weather looks to be super nice all week. I am not sure what that means in
the way of catching birds but at least it will be nice weather while trying to
catch them!
