Howdy all,
Well the wind this weekend has really hampered netting and it looks to be
pretty windy the next few days as well. What I think all of us working for
Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory would like to see is a few days of calmer
winds and a cold front.
Anyway, we have managed to do some netting through the extended weekend.
Yesterday we banded 14 birds while today we upped it one to 15. There are still
quite a few birds in the park and so I hope tomorrow the winds are a little
calmer and allow us to band a little more.
Totals 9/5:
Magnolia Warbler 1
Redstart 1
Traill's Flycatcher 2
C. Yellowthroat 2
Northern Waterthrush 2
Indigo Bunting 3
Ovenbird 1
Veery 1
Mockingbird 1
Totals 9/6:
Redstart 1
Black-&-white Warbler 2
C. Yellowthroat 2
Northern Waterthrush 3
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Carolina Wren 1
Great-crested Flycatcher 1
Cardinal 3
Mockingbird 1
It was nice to see a few friends this weekend. Glad they could make a stop at
Kiptopeke during their weekend endeavors. Just wish the weather would have been
a little better! Hope it changes soon!
See you at the banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
