Hello VaBirders,
The topic of feeding bread and vegetable based animal fat alternatives to wild
birds got me thinking.
I know some of you do studies and others volunteer for CBC counts at county
landfills. And we all know that landfills can be populated with vast numbers of
birds (esp. Gulls) and other wild life looking for food. My question is this,
does anyone know of a study or personal experience of the harms of landfill
feeding? I can’t imagine what they must find.
Just because they eat it, doesn’t mean it’s good for them.
I wonder how many fries Gulls eat in the summer near popular boardwalks.
Birds cannot digest milk.
Cats love the sweet taste of antifreeze.
Chocolate is toxic to dogs.
Thank you for your time.
