This morning I was surprised to see a Lark Sparrow in my backyard in
Norfolk. It flew into the yard with a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos around
10:30am. I ran back inside to get binoculars, and I was able to get an
excellent view of the bird, which I've seen many times in my native Utah. I
tried to get a photograph, but after I got my camera ready I was unable to
relocate the bird.
Since I'm relatively new to the area, I don't know how rare this species is
here, but judging from the range map it is not a common species.
Please give advance notice if you'd like to look for the bird on our yard
or from the adjacent Bayview Elementary School.
Best,
Josh Kreitzer
