Hi all,
my mom and I spent part of the day birding in the Stuarts Draft-Waynesboro area
as well as some closer to home near New Hope. A few highlights:
-1 Lark Sparrow on Brenneman Lane. Since there have been several reports of no
Lark Sparrow I thought this was note worthy to post that it was still there.
-25 Horned Larks on Guthrie Road. There were also 8-10 Horned Larks in the
fields along Brenneman Lane near the Lark Sparrow spot and about 5 Horned Larks
in some fields near New Hope.
-1 Wilson's Snipe along Rt. 608 near Madrid Road. There's some good snipe
habitat (fields with wet and mud) along here and I always look for snipe but
this is the first time with success.
-13 Greater White-fronted Geese still present at Hestons Ponds along Shalom
Road.
-4 Rusty Blackbirds (2 pairs in 2 different locations near Fishersville,
associating with Grackles)
-3 Purple Martins at the martin houses behind the Cheese Shop at Stuarts Draft
(2 martins reported here by Allen Larner yesterday)
Good birding,
Gabriel Mapel
