VA BIRDERs,
Three hours this morning netted a few interesting species out of the 50
tallied.
The highlight was 3 Yellow Palm Warbler working the field NW of Lorton and
Furnace Rd. They were still present near the "historical" house by the
parking lot 2 hrs later.
Other notables were American Kestrel in the field NW of Lorton and Furnace
Rd, Gray Catbird in brushy area near the South Middle School (NW side),
Brown Thrasher in brushy area around pond east of Silverbrook and north of
Laurel Hill Elementary School, 5 Fox Sparrows in various places, and a flock
of about 450 Common Grackles moving from Hooes Rd towards the landfill area.
