The Monticello Bird Club has traveled to the Eastern Shore for its annual
Fall 3-day trip to Chincoteague. This morning while on Island #3 (with
police escort) our group got great looks at a LeConte's Sparrow actively
feeding. Photographs were taken which will be posted later. There were
thousands of gulls consisting of RING-BILLED, HERRING, GREAT BLACK-BACKED
and good numbers of LAUGHING, along the rocks and floating on water, ocean
side close to the islands.
Other highlights today included a single female HARLEQUIN DUCK along Island
#3, waves of AMERICAN TREE SWALLOW ALONG THE CBBT, including at least one
CLIFF OR CAVE SWALLOW. The extreme high winds out of the NW kept those
birds zipping on southward.

RUSTY BLACKBIRD - flock of 5 in tree at entrance for refuge office at ESNWR
and a group of approximately 32 flew over;
