I went to Dutch Gap Conservation Area in Chester, VA this morning with Hannah
and Paul Glass in search of the Least Bittern. Hannah had the first glimpse of
one in flight and then it was a long wait before anything else happened. Then
we had a few brief flight views before Hannah found one hunkered down in the
vegetation and it stuck its head up. I was able to snap a few photos before it
flew and disappeared behind the brush. Nothing great but the best shots I have
gotten of a Least.

On the way back to South Boston, we stopped by Dick Cross WMA in Mecklenburg,
VA where I got some shots of a White-eyed Vireo that Paul heard singing. There
are also a few other new photos including some fairly good Eastern Bluebird
shots from last Thursday at Staunton River State Park.
Cheers for now,
