Kurt Gaskill and I birded Leesylvania SP in Woodbridge this morning.
Definitely some migrants about, but not what you could call a big flight. The
hillside below the ruins was a productive spot, with blackburnian (1 or 2
males), chestnut-sided, magnolia (2), black-and-white (3), Tennessee, Nashville
(2), and yellow-throated warblers, ovenbird, northern parula, redstart
(several) and common yellowthroat, rose-breasted grosbeak, yellow-billed
cuckoo, cedar waxwing, scarlet tanager, and lots of red-eyed vireos (definitely
the bird of the day, in terms of numbers). In the picnic area I saw 2
Philadelphia vireos. Behind the visitor center were blue-winged warbler (1 or
2), and a yellow-bellied flycatcher (Kurt saw that one). Near the boardwalk we
found a veery and acadian flycatcher.
