I had a wonderful morning at Leesylvania SP in Woodbridge, with 59 species,
including 9 warblers. Lots of blackpolls, followed closely by yellow-rumps.
This has been a great migration for blackpolls. Also seen were 2
black-throated blues (including an adult male), magnolia, Cape May,
black-throated green, northern parula, black-and-white, and common
yellowthroat. Other notables (and there were many) include merlin flying over
the ruins, scarlet tanager along the road, blue grosbeak at Freestone Point,
indigo bunting on the hillside, rose-breasted grosbeak across the road from the
Powell's Creek parking lot, barred owl at the small wetland close to the road,
blue-headed vireo harassing the barred owl, and yellow-billed cuckoo at the
camping area.
