Yesterday was great at Leesylvania. Today was even better. The park was swarming with migrants this morning. I tallied 23 species of warblers, with the help of Peter Ross, Scott Priebe, and Toby Hardwick. Tennessee was the most unusual, in that I don't see it often in the spring along the Potomac. It was singing atop the hill near the ruins. Notable in numbers were Canada, chestnut sided, blackpoll, black and white, and magnolia. What was surprising to me was the lack of rose-breasted grosbeak and migrant flycatchers. But the warblers kept us busy from one end of the park to the other.

Before going to Leesylvania I went to Breckinridge Road, pre-dawn. No whip-poor-wills, but I did see 4 species of thrush (wood, Swainson's, gray-cheeked, veery) plus pine, hooded, and black-throated green warblers, ones that I did not see in Leesylvania.
