All,
I birded NY Monuments for about an hour this morning. The predominant
warbler by far was Magnolia. Others included American Redstart,
Chestnut-sided, Common Yellowthroat, Blackburnian, Black and White and
Pine. There were many Red-breasted Nuthatches. My best bird was a
single Lincoln's Sparrow that I found along the southeast edge of the
field while looking for a certain skulking warbler which I did not
find. Other birds were Yellow-billed Cuckoo (I remain skunked on
Black-billed), Yellow-throated and White-eyed Vireos singing, Red-eyed
Vireo, Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Eastern Wood-Pewee and
the other likely suspects.
