Hey all, I ran down to Lake Drummond via Railroad Ditch entrance this AM, and
happened upon a Lincoln's Sparrow once again on Interior Ditch in debris from
the fire about 1 mile and a half east of where Interior meets West Ditch (seems
about the same general area I had one last time). Longer views than last time,
as the bird popped up with some Songs to take in a little sun on this chilly
morning.
Nothing else unexpected, did have atleast a dozen or so Rusty Blackbirds
fly over the Interior Ditch boat ramp mixed in with the Red-wingeds and 1500+
Robins, all headed north. Also a nice low Rusty Blackbird flew over the West
Ditch Boardwalk, I could see the yellow eye on that one!
On the Lake, counted 129 Tundra Swan, a single hen Gadwall mixed with a
group of 5 Hooded Mergansers, a small flock of 20 Ring-necked Ducks lit briefly
on the Lake before taking off again, a pair of Mallards and one fly-over Common
Loon.
Anyway, surprised to see a Lincoln's Sparrow again, maybe same bird and
maybe it will stick around? We'll see, thanks,
Nick Flanders.
Newport News.
