I watch the Little Gull today from 4:30 to 4:45 PM. I was fortunate enough to
catch it in flight which, even with my "emergency" binoculars, was clearly
visible at mid channel. It flew lazily down river into the wind, dipping at
morsels. I'd guess it took 10 minutes to cover a mile. Once it settled on the
water a very good scope and a lot of patience would've been required to find
it.
