We continue to hear a Woodcock in the wood lot behind our suburban home in
Loudoun County. With the nicer weather the tennis courts are lighted with
people playing while others play basketball on the other side of this
relatively narrow wood lot.
This evening we heard a second Woodcock calling and saw a third fly
silently over the trees right down to where another was calling. The
occasional yell from the courts doesn’t seem to stop the displays. Who
knows why they haven chosen this unlikely location.
