Gene Keefe, Mary Floyd, Ann Bogar, and Harry Glasgow led the Monday Morning
Birdwalk at Huntley Meadows Park on Monday July 7, 2003. The group of twelve
birders left the Visitor's Center parking lot at 0700 and finished the field
trip promptly at 0900. The weather was sunny and hot and the winds were calm.
The surprise of the morning was the lone Bufflehead in the Central Pond; the
Bufflehead has been there for about a week.
The number of American Crows, Fish Crows, and Blue Jays observed at the Park
this year persists at an all time low. Blue Jays, which were seemingly native
at the Park, now are a rarity.

Huntley Meadows Park is located at 3701 Lockheed Boulevard in Alexandria,
Virginia. To reach the Park by car from the Beltway, take the Route 1 Exit
South
towards Fort Belvoir. 3.5 Miles from the Beltway, on the right, is Lockheed
Boulevard. Proceed 0.5 miles to the Park entrance, on the left, at the
intersection of Lockheed Boulevard and Harrison Lane. The Monday Morning
Birdwalk
meets in the parking lot at the Visitor's Center at 0700 every Monday morning.
