I headed to Monticello Park around 11:45 today after the rain stopped. The
park seemed pretty noisy, although because of the light I had little luck
id'ing the small birds up in the canopy. I saw a Swainson's Thrush on the
upper pather as I worked my way back to the "head" of the stream. There I
heard an unfamiliar buzzy song coming from one of the trees, and managed to
find a beautiful male Magnolia Warbler. Also nearby were some
Black-Throated Blues.
Probably the most notable other thing about the animal life there today was
the total lack of birders other than myself! Not often you can say that
about Monticello at this time of year.
