We did the Manassas Christmas Bird Count today. We did the northwest
quadrant of the park, from RT 234 west and RT 29 north. The day started
with drizzle and cold, then developed a steady rain. By lunch the rain had
stopped and the sky was clearing. Again by 2 PM, the sky clouded over and
the wind began to pick up.
Overall it was a good day with good numbers of birds.
Biggest counts were American Robins and Cedar Waxwings and other highlights
were 10 Purple Finches, 1 American Tree Sparrow, and 1 Fox Sparrow.
