Late yesterday afternoon, I made a brief visit to the wetlands area on the
left side of the road just before the Messick boat launch. This area has
been providing a nice mix of marsh birds over the past month. Yesterday's
mix included Willets, both Yellowlegs, Wilson Snipe, Dunlin, Least
Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitcher, and Clapper Rails. There were also 3 Least
Terns
feeding in this area.
Take note, the deer flies and noseums were relentless. The mosquitos
can't be too far behind.
