On April 18, a Mississippi Kite crossed the James River, at the College Creek
Hawkwatch, sponsored by Coastal VA Wildlife Observatory, in James City
County. Because of the backlighting I couldn't be sure of the age. That's the
third spring record for the site in 6 years.
On April 17, 9 species passed in less than an hour, the most species ever
for one hour there.
The count is a bit above average, at almost 800 birds.
