Hi All -
Have had a couple of days of great extended Mississippi Kite viewing and study
in VA Beach along Curtiss, Westerfield and Burroughs Rd. in Thoroughgood. The
young fledge has been practicing flying from tree to tree and perching in the
breeze. Both parents are around bringing food and can be seen making awesome
dives from on high to deliver food to the perch of the young vocalizing bird.
Monday evening the viewing was great as the young bird spent quite a long time
perched, in the dead snags frequented by the adult birds earlier in the summer,
and was fed in place.
