About 6:30 this evening I was standing in the front yard talking to a
neighbor when I noticed a raptor floating in. As the bird got closer, it
was obvious that it was an adult Mississippi Kite. The bird circled just
above the treetops for about 30 seconds before briefly perching and then
drifting off out of site. I'm about 5 miles from the area where Kites have
been breeding for several years, but this is the first record for my yard.
