I visited the P. B. Smith Elementary School in Warrenton twice today. The
morning visit, between 9:45 and 11:00am , was without any signs of Kites. I
returned around 5:15pm and spotted one Mississippi Kite over the far
(eastern) edge of the school property. It disappeared almost at once and I
had to wait for almost an hour before it reappeared; I saw it first at quite
some distance to the east, and it gradually circled closer. It appeared to
be the adult bird that has been reported several times - no sign of the
immatures that were reportedly accompanying it. It spent most of the time
over the Whippoorwill Lake neighborhood immediately behind the school. The
neighborhood street running immediately behind the trees along the edge of
the school property is labeled "Bonfire Dr." in Google maps, and
"Whippoorwill Dr" in Mapquest, but the actual street sign says "Rector
Drive". Whippoorwill Dr. continues east, away from the school.
