Va-Birders: I was out in my yard on Sat afternoon talking on the phone when
I looked up and saw a wonderful Mississippi Kite soaring overhead. This is
the second time I've seen one over my neighborhood (and the first time I
could really claim it as a yard bird :-)
I just hope the deforestation of the beltway corridor going on over the next
5 years doesn't discourage the Kites from sticking around. They are such a
beautiful addition to the skies in No. VA.
Happy Birding to all.

PS: I also played rescue this a.m. on the way into work, when I had a fledge
Carolina Wren practically drop at my feet on the sidewalk in front of the
office. I covered him up - got him/her in the old handy banders grip and
carried him to the bushes. Hopefully Mom or Dad were near by and will coach
him on his flying technique ;-) He was a real cutie, bird lips, whispy
undertail coverts and all!!
