The two adult Mississippi Kites that have been watched in the Thoroughgood
neigborhood of VA Beach since June, fed a young bird at least three times today
in the same tree. The last sighting was around 3:30 pm when each adult in
succession brought a small bird or large insect to the young bird and it
consumed the offering. Lots of vocalization. The young bird has been up in
the same tree all day. It has flown short distances from limb to limb at times
during the day. The adult birds were not in sight when I left at about 3:45pm
but the young bird was still perched in the same spot.
