Yesterday, while at work in Portsmouth, I heard a terrible screeching noise
coming from a magnolia tree. After a few seconds a Green Heron and a Northern
Mockingbird came tumbling out of the tree and the mockingbird flew away. The
Green Heron stood under the magnolia tree, appearing very aggitated, for a long
time.
This occurred at the edge of a parking lot, about 500 feet from the Elizabeth
River in Portsmouth. Never thought I would see those two species interacting in
that manner.
