Evidently, people in Stoneybrook (Warwick Blvd.) have seen the Monk
Parakeets around this year. The old nest is not there! as most of you
know....Neighbors reported 2 smaller nests are around further back on
another street at two different locations.
We have looked several times but just weren't lucky enough to see the birds
fly or sitting on wire. With different birders looking, hopefully someone
will locate them....and report the location............A club mbr. rept'd
this at our Hampton Rds Bird Club mtg. Oct. 13. At least it's great to
know the parakeets are still in the area.
Another note: Has anyone considered seeing the movie, "The Big Year" ? -
which started Friday. at AMC theaters. Article in our local Daily Press on
Friday.
Don't know how close it is to being like Bob Ake's "Big Year." but based
on the book by Mark Obmascik. It may surprise us - especially with Steve
Martin, Owen Wilson & Jack Black.
So many people don't know about the thousands of birders out there or
anything about nature. They still make fun of birders ! Not knowing what a
joy it is to get out and see our beautiful birds.
