Since Matt Bender visited the park yesterday, I decided to give it a go as
well, despite it being significantly less sunny than it was yesterday. We
were there only a short time, from 1:45pm-2:20pm.
Upon arrival, I immediately heard a bird chirp that I knew I hadn't heard
before (always an exciting thing, but it was so high up that I knew I'd
never find it). We found one foraging MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and that was
about the extent of warblers for the first 20 min.
But, on our walk out, I heard the unfamiliar chirping again, and out comes
a HOODED WARBLER (a life bird for me) chirping up the creek! Full views
for both me and non-birding SO (a pretty cool bird for a non-birder!).
Made for a good first-birding day (haven't birded much these summer
months!).
Thanks for the report, Matt, or I might not have gone!
