The Northern Virginia Teen Bird Club went this morning to the State Arboretum

Lots of Palm Warblers, at least 15, sometimes with 4-6 in a field of view at
the same time, both western and yellow.
1 Nashville, 1 Tennessee (spotted by Nick), 2 Cape May, several Yellow-rumped,
1 Black-throated Blue, and 1 Blackpoll Warbler
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and both Kinglets
A Broad-winged Hawk in a kettle of Black Vultures
2 Sharp-shinned Hawk engaged in an aerial conflict
25-30 meadowlarks, lots of great views, lotsof singing. Nice!
Many thanks to co-leader Nolan Britt, and to Jacob Barkett for keeping the list
and submitting it to eBird.
Afterwards we met in my classroom at FHS and saw some amazing nature
photography shot by Nick, Sayed and Alec in the past year. Really great stuff!
Close-ups of insects and flowers, telephotos of birds, and stunning scenics
Our next field trip will be in the afternoon of Nov 20, probably to King George
Co. PLease let me know if you are in grades 7-12 and would like to attend.
All the best
