Fifteen birders led by Larry Meade and me birded Huntley Meadows this
morning. It was a beautiful fall day with near perfect conditions. Despite
only one waterbird, one wading bird and no shorebirds or gulls, we managed
40 species including several warblers. Palm warblers and catbirds were
abundant. A cooper's hawk posed for us very nicely as we were leaving the
boardwalk, and several nuthatches entertained us during the walk back to the
parking lot. All in all, a very pleasant morning.
