Three birders participated in the Northern Va Bird Club's field trip to
Thompson Wildlife Management Area in western Fauquier County this morning.
Despite the heat, the birds were quite vocal throughout most of the morning &,
as the trees in this location are still far from being fully leafed out, we
were able to get great views of many of them, including several male
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Scarlet Tanagers, many Redstarts, and Cerulean &
Hooded Warblers. (We walked down from the Trillium Trail parking area -- the
trilliums are not at or just past their peak.) The complete llist of 33
species is attached below.
