The ever popular Northern Va Woodcock Walk @ Huntley Meadows is still
popular. Twenty plus birders were present at the Woodcock Meadow last nite
circa 7:30
as the winds finally did die down and the Woodcocks put in an appearance.
Two or three birds peenting, then a flyover, some more peenting, a low level
fly over by two birds, a display flight, another low level fly over, another
display flight. All in all, one of the better shows I've seen - maybe as many
as 10 birds. A fine time was had by all.
Not much peripheral action, one or two Pine Warblers, a Yellow-rumped
Warbler, Turkey and Black Vulture and two Rusty Blackbirds mixed in w. the
large
Robin flock close to the entrance gate...
