The Northern Virginia Bird Club held a pre-hurricane bird walk this morning at
Huntley Meadows. Six birders came out for a gray and humid morning. However,
the rain held off until we were back at the Visitor's Center. We did not have
a lot of species, but some highlights included four Wild Turkeys running
through the woods near the informal trail. We also saw three juvenile Little
Blue Herons, an Osprey eating a fish. Common Yellowthroats, Hummingbirds, Green
Herons and a couple of American Redstarts. The walk was led by Frances Raskin
and me.
