Birders,
En route to an extremely boring (especially for Sept.) day at Snickers, I
stopped
at NY Monument in the Manassas Battlefield for about an hour early this
morning. Maybe not early enough since I arrived a few minutes after 7:00.
Birds of note I encountered: OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and PHILADELPHIA
VIREO. The flycatcher was seen on both sides of the parking lot; the vireo
down in "the field". Great views of both; the vireo was singing, which was
lovely,
and the OS Fly was showing of his nice white fluffies on the sides of his
flanks.
It was particularly nice to have a zillion or so EASTERN PEWEES in the
neighborhood to compare size. Considerable difference!
Very few warblers were there: CANADA, PINE, BT GREEN, C YELLOWTHROAT,
BLACK & WHITE, REDSTART, NASHVILLE and CHESTNUT-SIDED.
