As many of you in northern Virginia already know, MDOsprey suddenly went
dark today. A new listserv has been set up for Maryland and Washington,
D.C. by Jared Fisher.
Below is a message from Jared regarding how to sign up.

There are several ways to sign up for the new google group. No google
account is necessary.
For those wanting to sign up using email, you can subscribe by sending an
email to _mdbirding+subscribe@googlegroups.com_
(mailto:mdbirding+subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) . You will then receive an email
asking you to reply to
the message to confirm your subscription. Subsequently, emails sent to
_mdbirding@googlegroups.com_ (mailto:mdbirding@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) will be
posted
to the list.
All emails from the list to your inbox will have [mdbirding] as the
leading subject.
You can also sign up via the web with a google account by going to
_https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mdbirding_ ;
(https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mdbirding) At this web address, anyone can
read and search through posts.
However, to post via the web, you will need to have a google account. Google
groups is completely free and has no user limit. It has the added benefits
of allowing users to attach photos to their posts.
This group is currently in a trial run to see if it will fulfill our needs
as a communication tool. Suggestions are welcome.
