Volunteers in the Roanoke-Lynchburg area have helped to organize a training
session at a private residence in Burnt Chimney on June 10th from 0800-1300.
This workshop will include a morning field walk focused on breeding behavior
observations, then a follow-up data entry and smartphone tools session. The
area we will be birding in has a great mix of early successional, forest, and
open field habitats. In 2016, we easily found 50 species in a morning of
birding, as well as lots of great breeding evidence. Given that this event will
be held at an Atlas volunteer home, we have limited space. Please contact Alyce
Quinn (twoquinns_at_yahoo.com) to reserve a spot by June 4th and get further
event details. Take advantage of this chance to bird with experienced Atlasers
and learn more about the ins and outs of volunteering with the VA Breeding Bird
Atlas from the State Coordinator.
