I conducted my weekly survey at the King's Highway side of Huntley Meadows this
morning (Fairfax County). Common Yellowthroats and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers have
arrived. I observed a migrant Chipping Sparrow near the Maintenance Building.
An Eastern Phoebe pair were engaged in courtship and nest building activities
near the Platform at the end of the Hike-Bike Trail.  About 70 Rusty Blackbirds
were mixed in with 2 flocks of female Red-winged Blackbirds. Unfortunately, the
3 singing Field Sparrows I heard last week apparetnly were not present or not
singing today.
