Hello all
This evening I went over to the Stuart Hall Chimney's to watch the Swifts drop
in . While watching I counted 34 Common Nighthawks feeding at all levels of the
sky . As it got darker the Swifts started dropping in & estimated a round
about figure of 1500+ . Not as many as yesterday but still a good little group
of birds .
On another note the Augusta Bird Club is kicking off on the start of field
trips with the first on Saturday Sept. 1st . We will meet at 08 : 00am at the
Inn at Afton 's parking lot. We are looking for migrating Warbler's ,
Flycatcher's etc. I will lead the group onto the Blue Ridge Parkway & parts of
Rt. 610 . Afterwards you can spent some time at the Hawk Watch if you chose to
do so . Hopefully the Hawk Watch will have a good display of Broad - winged
Hawks , Osprey & an Eagle or two . Directions to the Inn -- take I 64 to exit
99 & drive up the road that goes by the Service Station . You can see the Inn
from the Station . Hope to see some of you all there .
